.According to Erik Johnson, DotA 2 won't require a superb computer, but people with hardware might enjoy an invite priority over people with older machines. This might be the thing in the upcoming first wave of beta invites while everyone will be able to enjoy open beta version of DotA 2 that will be released later this year.
Erik Johnson said: “We are just going to start adding people partly based on what kind of hardware configuration they have that will be useful for us to get data on.”
“Then as we move on, we will start adding as many people as we can to start testing for scale”
